My sister’s been driving this for two months, but I had to borrow it for a day because my mother needs her Explorer for something (Dakota’s still busted.)
I’m jealous. 4.3 V6, auto, 4x4, and custom exhaust (Thrush Welded(?) with no catalytic converter. Bought that way Sounds really, really good.)
It shits and gets, too. Steering has quite a bit of play, and I think it needs shocks, but other than that, it drives great and I really like it.
Overall: I like it. A lot. And if it were mine, I’d already be dumping tons of money into it.

Funny feature on those: if sunroof equipped, the drain tube empties above the driver’s door hinge. This considerably shortens the life of the hinge pin and bushing. It’s a weak point of GM trucks. It’s going to break anyway, long before the truck dies, but that drain tube makes it so much worse.

Interesting! This truck doesn’t have the sunroof, though.

I have many opinions on Chevy. Many of them negative. Since 1997 I have never NOT owned at least one. Down to only one chevy right now. So I’m gonna go get one. just in case.

It is in great shape!

It surprisingly is, other than the average rot in front of the rear tires. Only has 140k miles on it.

Im pretty sure the S/Ts left the factory with play in the steering. My 02 S10 had 70,000 miles and even with replacing almost everything in the front end it was still sloppy as all hell. Blame them going essentially unchanged underneath since the 80s.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

Hmm. My 2000 S-10 is tight and precise. Must of had some good parts :)

They almost certainly did. My Blazer had enough play that I thought the ball joints needed done at least, likely more. I was told by my mechanic that everything in the front end was within factory spec. If that was the case, factory spec left a ton of play.

This makes me miss my Blazer even more
It also had a ton of play in the steering, also needed new shocks, but it was a great little truck. These things eat ball joints like crazy, apparently. I miss it way more than I should.
My friend has it now, it’s languishing behind his garage, waiting to be resurrected with a new starter and brakes. I think it’s at 320k ish kms now.

These are great, and I’d totally take it from my sister if I could .
